HISEO Chlor Electrolysers

Hiseo Chlor

We design and manufacture compact electrolysis systems (HISEO Chlor) for the treatment of diluted brine, including seawater, enabling the reliable on-site production of sodium hypochlorite. This versatile chemical plays a vital role in a broad spectrum of applications, primarily for disinfection and biofouling control. In marine environments, sodium hypochlorite effectively prevents the growth of both micro and macro organisms within pipelines, ensuring uninterrupted operation and protecting infrastructure from costly damage. In power stations and industrial facilities, it is widely used to safeguard cooling systems, where efficiency and reliability are critical to performance.

Our HISEO Chlor Electrolysers are the result of years of development, engineering expertise, and continuous innovation. Designed for efficiency, safety, and ease of use, they provide a dependable alternative to the handling and storage of bulk chemicals, reducing logistical complexity while improving operational sustainability. Compact in footprint yet robust in capability, our systems are well suited to both new installations and retrofitting into existing facilities.

Flexibility is central to our approach. We recognize that no two projects are identical, and operational conditions often require tailored solutions. For this reason, our wide range of HISEO Chlor Electrolysers can be fully customized based on your specific requirements. From capacity adjustments to integration with plant automation systems, we work closely with our clients to deliver systems that meet technical, environmental, and economic objectives.

By combining proven electrochemical technology with a customer-focused design philosophy, we help industries achieve safe, efficient, and sustainable production of sodium hypochlorite directly where it is needed.

What is Electrochlorination?

Electrochlorination is a well-established industrial electrochemical process in which an electric current, passed through a chloride-rich electrolyte using carefully engineered electrodes, generates hypochlorite. This compound is a powerful oxidizing agent with widespread applications in disinfection, biofouling control, and water treatment. The process is widely valued for its safety and reliability, as hypochlorite can be produced directly on-site, eliminating the need for transporting and storing hazardous chemicals.

The efficiency of electrochlorination depends on several operating parameters, with the concentration and temperature of the feed brine being among the most critical. Both factors strongly influence not only energy consumption but also the service life of the electrodes at the heart of the system. In ideal conditions—moderate temperatures and suitably concentrated brines—the technology performs smoothly and cost-effectively. However, when the process is required to operate with low-temperature waters or highly diluted brines, the electrodes face severe stress. Under these harsher conditions, premature electrode wear becomes a significant risk, potentially leading to unplanned downtime, reduced performance, and costly plant shutdowns.

Addressing these challenges has been a key focus of Chemical Newtech’s research and development team. Drawing on years of electrochemical expertise, the team has designed and tested a new generation of mixed metal oxide (MMO) catalytic coatings specifically tailored to withstand demanding environments. These advanced coatings demonstrate excellent resistance to wear, even when exposed to unfavorable operating conditions. At the same time, they ensure consistently high chlorine production efficiency, maintaining optimal output without sacrificing electrode durability.

By extending electrode service life and improving process stability, these innovations reduce maintenance requirements and operating costs while enhancing overall plant reliability. For operators, the result is greater confidence in long-term performance and the ability to meet disinfection needs under virtually any set of conditions.
